We are organizing this project in cooperation with the Bademler Village Culture and Art Association. Bademler Village is a special village for us because we have been working in this village for 12 years. The villagers wait for international volunteers every year. There are memories of IVS volunteers all over the village.

WORK

In this project, volunteers will paint and organize the village s theater building and library together with local volunteers. They will also repair the parts of the village that need repair. Bademler Village is close to Azmak Bay. A traditional sea festival is organized by the villagers in this bay every year. Water games, concerts, group activities are held in the festival. Volunteers will help organize this festival.Stage setup, sound systems, creation of appropriate areas for group activities, environmental decorations, transportation and other preparations require the support of volunteers.In case of additional needs of the village, support can be requested from volunteers. Every contribution to the village is very important to us. You may also be interested in making tarhana together with the villagers

ACCOMODATION AND FOOD

Bademler village has cute and modern village houses. Every year, the villagers host our volunteers in their own houses. Each family hosts 1, 2 or 3 volunteers and these houses are very close to each other. The volunteers prepare their breakfasts, lunches and dinners together with their host families.

LOCATION & LEISURE ACTIVITY

Bademler Village is known as the most modern village in Turkey and is visited by tourists. The village has a theater building and a library, which attracts a lot of attention. This village is located in Izmir, the third largest city in Turkey. There are many historical and natural beauties around it. There are many different beaches and bays on the seashore. It is a perfect location for sea activities and cultural visits.

GSM – Youth Services Centre is a non-governmental and non-profit youth organisation that has been founded by a group of young people in 1985 in Ankara, Turkey.
Since its first day, GSM has actively worked in youth field and until today it has created and successfully implemented many national and international youth projects. GSM is a pioneer organisation in the field of youth-work in Turkey.
Our main aim is to support common understanding, peace, friendship and intercultural learning among young people coming from different cultural backgrounds by organising international youth activities. We believe that these intercultural activities give a space to young people to share their experiences and own cultural richness, which could help young people to break down any barriers and prejudice.
